How a customer looks for you when something breaks
On the phone, in a hurry, with the name of the town: ‘plumber Mendrisio’, ‘emergency electrician Lugano’. They choose in a few seconds from whoever shows up, and they choose whoever says three things clearly: that they work in that area, what they do, and how to call them right away. The rest they read later, if at all.
For a tradesperson the website isn’t a shop window: it’s your phone number put in the right place. But it does something else too, less obvious: it filters. If you say you don’t take small repairs under a certain amount, or don’t travel beyond a certain valley, the calls you get are already the right ones.
And for the big jobs — a bathroom to redo, a new system — the customer isn’t in a hurry and compares. That’s where whoever shows finished work wins, with before-and-after photos.
What to put on a tradesperson’s website
The site starts out with the words of the trade — services, work done, quote — and with the button to call you always in view.
- What you do, and what you don’t Repairs, installations, maintenance, emergencies. And, if needed, what you don’t do: it spares you the wrong calls.
- The areas you cover The towns and valleys, written out by name. It’s the most important section for Google, because searches for a tradesperson are always ‘trade plus place’.
- Work done Before and after, with a couple of lines: what was there, what you did, how long it took. It’s worth more than any list of certifications.
- Guide prices The call-out, the hourly rate, a few typical jobs with a ‘from’. It doesn’t commit you, and it takes away the customer’s fear of calling.
- Emergencies and call-out hours If you go out in the evening or at weekends, say so in big letters. If you don’t, say that too.
- Get a quote The button that closes every page: call, WhatsApp — where the customer can send you a photo of the fault — or email.
Three templates for tradespeople
All twenty-eight templates are available, and none costs more. These three are the most natural starting points: you can switch template later without losing your text.
- Attivo Sharp corners, light grey and a single red: direct and businesslike, read in a second.
- Lastra Metal and raking light: for those who work with materials and want to show them off properly.
- Insegna Big type and blocks of colour: the firm’s name sticks like the one on the van.
Getting found in every area you cover
A tradesperson doesn’t work in just one town, and that’s an advantage: every place you write on the site is one more search you can answer. The title Google shows starts from your name, category (‘Tradesperson’) and the town where you’re based — and you rewrite it in a minute with your exact trade, ‘Plumber’ or ‘Electrician’. The areas go in the text, by name.
The three things that really count:
- your firm’s Google Business Profile, with the site linked and the service areas set;
- name, phone number and address written the same way everywhere, from the site to the van;
- customer reviews, asked for when the job’s done, while the customer is happy and still remembers.
Jobs, quotes and invoices, if you want those too
The site is free on its own too. If you want to stop keeping track of jobs between your phone and a notepad, LyamFlow has management software for people who work job by job: clients with their billing details, jobs that run over several days, the calendar, the price list for your work, documents and payments.
Invoices come out as PDFs with the Swiss QR-bill and are emailed straight from the software. A fourteen-day trial, then the Basic plan.
How it works, trade by trade: management software for your business.

Frequently asked questions
I don’t have time to look after a website. Is it still worth it?
That’s exactly what it’s made for: it takes five minutes to create and then asks nothing of you. You open it again when you have photos of a new job, if you feel like it.
Can I get photos of the fault?
Yes, in the simplest way: the WhatsApp button opens a chat with you, and the customer sends you the photo there. No forms to fill in.
I work in three different valleys. How do I show up in all of them?
Write them on the site, with the names of the villages, in a section devoted to your areas. The title says where you’re based; the text says how far you go.
Does it work for decorators, joiners, gardeners and metalworkers too?
Yes: when you sign up, choose ‘Tradesperson’ and the site starts with the right words for people who work in customers’ homes. You write your exact trade in the name and the text yourself.
Can I have an address like rizzoli-impianti.ch?
Yes, by connecting your own domain for CHF 9 a month plus registration. The free site stays online anyway at lyamflow.com/s/ followed by your firm’s name.
The right number, in the right place
