Website for photographers

People choose a photographer by looking at the photos, and a social media profile shows them small, in among everything else. Your website shows them large, in the order you decide, with everything needed to ask you for a quote right alongside. It’s ready in five minutes and it’s free.

What clients look at before contacting a photographer

Whether your style matches what they have in mind, and whether you’ve already applied it to a job like theirs. Someone looking for a wedding photographer wants to see weddings; a company wants to see corporate portraits and products. A portfolio split by type of work, with an idea of prices, is what turns a visit into an enquiry.

Instagram is an excellent shop window for getting noticed, but a terrible place to get chosen: the photos are cropped, mixed up, without context. And serious searches — “wedding photographer Ticino”, “corporate photographer Lugano” — don’t go through Instagram: they go through Google, which shows websites.

Your website is also the only place where you decide the order. Your ten best photos, not your latest ten.

What to put on a photographer’s website

The site comes with the sections of a creative studio — portfolio, services, quote — and with galleries designed to let the images speak.

  • Portfolio by genre Weddings, portraits, businesses, events, products. A gallery for each, with the strongest photos first.
  • Services and guide prices What a shoot includes, how many photos are delivered, how quickly, starting from how much. The “from” is enough to show whether you’re within budget.
  • How you work The location visit, the day of the shoot, the selection, the delivery. Anyone who’s never hired a photographer wants to know what to expect.
  • Who you are A photo of you, a short story, where you work. People trust a face, even that of someone who’s usually behind the lens.
  • Reviews Words from couples and clients, taken from real messages.
  • Get a quote The button that ends every page: email or WhatsApp, so the very first message can already include the date of the event.

Three templates for photographers

All twenty-eight templates are available, and none costs more. These three are the most natural starting points: you can switch template later without losing your text.

  • Deriva Series slide sideways as the page scrolls down, one at a time: like an exhibition, not an archive.
  • Soglia Each photograph opens out of a narrow slit, on pale paper with plenty of breathing room: the portrait at the centre.
  • Mosaico A modular grid that breaks apart and reassembles: for anyone with a graphic style who wants it visible from the very first screen.

Getting found by genre and location

Photography searches combine a genre and a place: “wedding photographer Lake Como”, “portrait photographer Lugano”, “product photos Mendrisio”. The automatic title starts from name, category (“Creative studio”) and town: rewrite it with “Photographer” and the genre you shoot most. Every gallery titled with its genre adds another search.

Three habits that make the difference:

  • title galleries by genre and, where it makes sense, by place: “Wedding in Morcote”, not “Job 12”;
  • upload photos in good quality but not huge: the site has to open quickly, even up in the mountains;
  • link the site to your Google Business Profile and social media, and put the link in every bio.

Clients, quotes and invoices, if you need them

The website is free on its own. If you want to keep your work in order too, LyamFlow’s management software for studios adds clients, appointments, services, a file for each job with its status, documents and takings.

Invoices come out as PDFs with the Swiss QR-bill and go out by email. A fourteen-day trial, then the Basic plan.

How it works, trade by trade: management software for your business.

Frequently asked questions

Do photos lose quality on the website?

The site shows them large and adapts them to the viewer’s screen, so they open quickly even on a phone. Always upload the best original you have, at a sensible size.

Can I have several separate galleries?

Yes: a gallery is a section, and you can add as many as you need, each with its own title and layout — mosaic, grid, scrolling strip, one large full-width image.

Can I deliver photos to clients through the website?

No: the website is your shop window, not a private archive. For delivery, keep using the tool you already use.

Does it work for videographers and graphic designers too?

Yes. When you sign up, choose “Creative studio”, and the site comes with portfolio, services and quote.

Can I use a domain with my name?

Yes, for CHF 9 a month plus registration. For a photographer it’s often the nicest domain of all: firstnamelastname.ch.
